Frequently Asked Questions

Below are some common FAQs that might help answer any questions or concerns.
Please feel free to call us at 612-385-7663 for any other concerns you might have about your pet.

What do I do in an emergency?

We try to reserve an appointment for an emergency each day. If your pet needs urgent care, please call us as soon as you notice that there is an issue. If your pet needs medical attention after hours, we recommend either the UMN Veterinary Medical Center in St. Paul or Blue Pearl in Golden Valley.

What do I do if I need to cancel or reschedule my appointment?

Please let us know as soon as possible if you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment. Remember that we can always see your pet without you being present if you leave us a key. Because surgeries require that we set aside large blocks of time specifically dedicated to your pet, there is a $250 cancellation fee for surgeries canceled without 7 days’ notice. We also charge a $125 fee if your pet cannot be found or handled after we arrive for your appointment.

How do I get prescriptions for food or medications refilled?

We use an online pharmacy called Covetrus to make refills easy. Read more about this in our Pharmacy Handout.

What services do you provide?

We are a fully-equipped mobile hospital! If you have specific concerns about your pet, please let our staff know so we can schedule your appointment appropriately.

Why do you need to run lab tests?

The blood, urine, and fecal samples we collect at your pet’s visit give us an in-depth look at what is happening inside your pet. Just as we can’t diagnose problems over the phone without examining your pet, we can’t know what is going on internally without reviewing lab results. Lab tests also help us to uncover issues before they make your pet feel sick; the earlier we catch a disease, the easier it is to treat. Lab results are generally available within two business days; some test results take longer.

What forms of payment do you accept? Is payment expected at the time of service?

We accept all forms of payment, including cash, check, and all major credit cards. We do charge a 3% processing fee for credit card payments. As credit card processing fees are a high cost for small businesses, we appreciate it when you pay by cash or with a check whenever possible. Invoices must be paid in full at the end of our visit. A 1.5% interest charge per month will be applied in the event of an unpaid invoice.
