Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Why should I schedule a house-call instead of taking my pet to a clinic?
A: There are three main reasons that a house-call may be the best option for you. First, many pets (especially cats!) find a trip to the vet extremely stressful, when we come to them that anxiety can be avoided. Second, a house-call may alleviate stress FOR YOU- if you have small children, multiple pets, a pet who is difficult to transport or any other challenge with getting to a clinic, then a house-call is the solution to the problem. Third, when we are at your house you get our undivided attention. Not only will you spend far more time with the doctor than is typical at most clinics, but we will have a better understanding of the environment in which your pet lives, which can be critical for diagnosing behavioral and even some medical issues.
Q: Does it cost more?
A: We aim to keep our prices similar to those of other clinics. Because we must account for the time spent traveling between appointments as well as expenses such as gas and vehicle maintenance, we do also charge a house-call fee per visit. For most locations in Minneapolis the house-call fee is $25. We are happy to provide you with an exact quote for the house-call fee based on your location. If you are able to coordinate care with other clients (friends or neighbors) near your home, house-call fees can be split up between multiple accounts. If you prefer to meet us at one of our set locations, or if we see your dog at a daycare facility that we partner with, there is no house-call charge.
Q: What if my pet is sick or has an emergency?
A: We set aside time in our schedule every day for “urgent care” cases and strive to be able to accommodate same-day requests for appointments. If your pet has an after-hours emergency or if it is in your pet’s best interest to receive immediate attention, we may refer you to an emergency clinic.
Q: What about surgery?
A: We park in a set location at least one day a week to perform surgery and dentistry. This enables us to ensure that your pet is stable and pain free before he or she is discharged after a procedure. The mobile
clinic is specially equipped to handle all of the patient care requirements for a full day of surgery.
Q: Do you perform at-home euthanasia?
A: Yes. We perform this service for our clients and by referral from other veterinarians. We can typically accommodate same-day requests for this service and can take care of all the details involved with cremation, including returning your pet’s ashes to you.
